Governor Umar Namadi of jigawa state has directed the state Ministries of environment, judiciary and security agencies to ensure maximum enforcement of the monthly sanitation exercise by punishing any one found violating sanitary laws.
The Governor gave the directive while inspecting the conduct of this month monthly sanitation around metropolitan Dutse, where he said the state government policy on monthly environment sanitation was aimed to promote personal and environmental hygiene in the state.
Accompanied by members of the state executive council, law makers, civil servants and political appointees explained that, upholding the culture of personal and environmental hygiene is one of the most effective and sustainable precautionary measures against spread of communicable diseases in promoting public health.
Namadi who participated fully during the sanitation excercise in metropolitan Dutse was quoted as saying the state government policy on monthly environment sanitation was aimed at promoting personal and environmental hygiene in the state.
Shedding more lights while speaking to newsmen, the state commissioner ministry of environmental Hon Dr Nura Ibrahim Kazaure sa’id, on every last Saturday of any calenders date people are restricted to stay indoor in their homes in observance of sanitation excercise which placed restriction of movements from 6:00am to 10:00am.
” During these hours people are expected to engage in sanitizing their environment for keeping Jigawa State Clean and any one found violating the order there are mobile courts established to trial the offenders”
” Currently all the 27 local government areas of the state are directed to mobilize community organizations, Self- Helf Groups and general public to join the exercise while all necessary support will be given from the state government for achieving the desire goals ” the commissioner declared.
Hon Kazaure However revealed that, 5 Mobil court were established at Dutse, Hadejia, Kazaure, Gumel and Ringim for trials of the violator of the Sanitation Law.
He than reiterated the commitment of his ministry to promote environment protection at all aspects, for sustainable development.
